Elizabeth Calsey House News
Assisted Living Residence
Hello Friends and Family!
I truly cannot believe how fast the winter months are approaching along with the holiday season! Although, we are always sad to say goodbye to warm months our homes look forward to a plethora of holiday fun and cheer!

Halloween 2014 Our flu shot clinic was a great success. Many residents and staff received the flu vaccine. We kindly ask anyone who is feeling under the weather to please wait to visit our homes so we can try and stay as healthy as possible during cold and flu season. Halloween certainly did not go unrecognized at either of our homes. Residents at both homes decorated Halloween themed cupcakes, which were one of many delicious treats served at each home's Halloween party. All residents who attended dressed up in costume, played guess the candy bar, and learned some spooky Halloween trivia!
Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Pink Ribbon October is not only the month of ghosts and goblins, it is also Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We will be embarking on the one year anniversary of our beloved Eleanor's (Deb, Peter, and Paul's Mom) passing, due to breast cancer. We want to thank everyone for their love and support over the last year.

Girls Love Mail is a company which distributes letters and cards throughout the country to patients undergoing treatment for breast cancer. Many of our residents at both homes made beautiful cards which I am sure will put a smile on many people's faces and inspire them to stay strong while undergoing treatment!
Ongoing Projects
We are always making improvements to our homes and always have some kind of project going on. This month we are refinishing the hardwood floors over at Lions Mouth Road as well as installing a new grinder pump. Both homes received new med boxes in every bed room. The new boxes have helped to conserve space in residents' bathrooms as well as keeping all medications easily accessible and organized.
Special Veterans Day
Henry Thurlow Veterans Day was very special this year at our homes. Henry Thurlow one of our residents who served as Aviation Machinist; serving 3 years in WWII and 25 years in the naval reserve was gracious enough to wear his uniform and say a few words to each house about the origin of Veteran's Day and some of the experiences he had. Henry inspired many other residents to share their stories and pay tribute to the service members they left behind. Although a few tears were shed, residents expressed extreme proudness and honor for veterans past and present. We thank and commend all of those who have served our country.
Holiday Toy Donations
Over the last few Holiday Seasons we have collected toys to donate to the Pettengill House. Pettengill House distributes gifts to children in hope of making their Holiday Season a little brighter. We will have a box at each house to leave your donations, for those of you who wish to donate. Pettengill House has asked us to remind everyone they are donating to all ages, both young children and teenagers; so please be mindful when purchasing gifts; and if possible have them in by Dec 13th!
Thanksgiving Reminder
Thanksgiving Now that Halloween has come and gone Thanksgiving will be here before we know it. We ask families to please let us know if their loved one will be joining us or going out for the Thanksgiving meal. Please let us know if you would like your loved one ready at a specific time. We try to make the meal very special and by knowing how many residents will be home makes for a better planned day.
A reminder from the Business office
Please remember the rent is due by the first of each month. If possible please have resident's rent here on or before the first of each month.

Holiday Parties Also our Holiday Parties will be here before we know it. Our Lions Mouth Home Party will be held Saturday December 6th from 11am - 2pm; and our Elizabeth St Party will be Saturday December 13th from 11am -2pm. Please let us know if you are attending.
Meet Marcy Boucher
Marcy Boucher Marcy has been a part of our Elizabeth Calsey House Family since February of 2007, and has also been a part of our family since marrying Deborah's brother Peter over 30 years ago! Previous to working at the Elizabeth Calsey House she received a degree in Floriculture and waitressed for 20 years. Marcy is quick on her feet and sure knows her way around the kitchen. Here at both of our homes Marcy wears many different hats. She is a CNA who takes great pride in the care she provides for the residents. She says one of her favorite parts of working at ECH is the rewarding feeling she gets when caring and being around the residents. Marcy is also in charge of resident crafts. She not only comes up with creative crafts, but assists residents in creating something truly special.

Those closes to Marcy know she goes by a few other names. As a child Marcy's friends and family refereed to her as Tootie. As she got older her nickname changed to Julie. The nickname Julie comes from the television show The Love Boat. The character Julie was a cruise director always planning and organizing events. Like Julie, Marcy often takes on the role of planning and organizing fun events for her friends and family. Marcy enjoys spending her time off with family. She has two daughters Monique and Jillian; who also work in the health field and her husband Pete who is another member of the ECH Family! Together they enjoy spending weekends at their lake house, and traveling to the warm beaches of Mexico. She met Pete, her high school sweetheart, at 16 and they have been happily married for 31 years!

Marcy also enjoys a good bargain! She has a natural knack for always finding the best deal in town. Below is one of Marcy's favorite recipes. It is a great recipe for someone who may just be starting out in the kitchen. It is absolutely delicious!
